The students are completing their final project/grade on what we have learned this year in Ancient Civilizations. Students are creating a handheld pamphlet/flyer entitled What I Learned... They are allowed to choose one unit and discuss six characteristics of that one unit OR they can spotlight one characteristic for each unit we've discussed. It is a culmination of what 7th grade Social Studies class has been this school year. Next year the incoming 7th graders will see what their peers learned this year... building bridges on our journey!
Time has flown! The students have done well this year at expanding their learning about different cultures and civilizations that have few similarities to their own. They have grown their knowledge of the world from Africa to the Middle East, and ending in the Mediterranean.
We have completed 3 units at the current time and are beginning to wrap up the first half of Unit 4 which focuses on Greece and Rome. As the year begins to wrap up with testing, assemblies, scheduling changes, etc. the lessons will be shorter in length and the students will be placed with having much more responsibility put on them at completing their work on their time.
Once we hit the early-mid part of June they will be responsible for completing projects based on what they have learned this year.
More info to come...
Students will be wrapping up our major unit on Egypt at the end of the month... it's been a long road but we've almost finished our journey along the Nile!
The foundation of Ancient Civilizations begins with our first unit on Early Man. There are a few concepts that may be confusing as we begin this unit such as: periods of time (BC/BCE & AD/CE), primary sources vs. secondary sources, timelines, four major hominids, etc. As always any questions are welcome and the students should be encouraged to check on new vocabulary words via Quizlet and utilize their textbook online.
Students should be aware that information on chapter tests and quizzes can be found on Quizlet as well as their study guides and/or notes for preparation for upcoming assessments! Preparation both by being in school/class as well as studying are key to their success!

Quizlet is an interactive program used for vocabulary comprehension. It is accessible via computer, or your smartphone and is FREE! As our school year goes on, students will be able to study and improve and expand their vocabulary using this tool. Also if students are absent and are unable to receive their new vocabulary words in class, they will be accessible via Quizlet. Happy studying!
Mrs. Tedeschi will be informing students of the Remind app and all its benefits for your success this year in 7th grade!
The students first homework assignment was to get their rules and procedures form for the class signed by themselves and their parent or guardian.
